Library Hours for Fall 2009

Welcome back to the Fall 2009 semester! We hope that everyone had a wonderful summer!

Every year, we have abbreviated hours for the first couple of days of the semester, since we need some time to hire enough student workers to keep things running during our regular semester hours.

So here is our schedule:

  • Monday, August 31: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 1: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 2: regular semester schedule begins
Our regular semester schedule is as follows:

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - Midnight
  • Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: Noon - Midnight
We will have special hours for midterm and Thanksgiving breaks, which will be posted near the time of the holiday. We will also offer extended exam week hours at the end of the semester.

And just a reminder--our resources are available 24/7 on the Web! You can access our databases, our online catalog, and obtain live assistance through our Ask Us 24/7 service!

We hope to see or hear from all of you this semester! Please let us know what we can do to help you be extraordinary!

Welcome Back for Spring 2009!

Welcome back to campus for Spring Semester 2009! The library is ready to assist with whatever you need--books, databases, online journals, etc. Our computer labs are ready to serve you, and the library now has laptops to lend at the front desk--check out a laptop for up to three hours, for in-library use. Connect to our wireless network with a loaner laptop, or bring your own.

The library is now back on its regular semester schedule too. The hours are always posted on the library's home page at http://web.sbu.edu/friedsam

Please let us know how we can help you make Spring 2009 your most successful semester yet!

NoodleTools has a New Format!

NoodleTools--the library's citation management tool--has just added a new format it can help you with!

Chicago/Turabian style was recently added, joining MLA and APA citation formats.

NoodleTools has also decided not to update what it does with the MLA style at this time because MLA has recommended that undergraduates continue to use the sixth edition of the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers until the seventh edition is released in the spring of 2009.

NoodleTools supports the most recent version of the APA style. They have incorporated the changes introduced in the June 2007 update (APA Style Guide to Electronic References), which replaced a small portion of the fifth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.

Alumni Weekend Events at the Library

This weekend, the St. Bonaventure University campus is excited to welcome back the alumni. At the library, we have yearbooks from various years (including all of the honored classes) out for browsing.

There are also some special events happening on Saturday, June 7, including:

--> 11:00 a.m., "St. Bonaventure University at 150," a talk by Sr. Margaret Carney in the Main Reading Room

--> 1:30 p.m., "Get Booked," a tour of the Rare Books Collection (meet in the lobby area)

We hope all alumni will be able to join us for some or all of these exciting events!

Lots to do? The library can help!!

Lots of work to do before the end of the semester?

Wish you were out enjoying the warm weather instead?

The library can help!

Ask a reference librarian to help you find the quality resources you need--don't waste time hunting for things!

Use our online databases for quick access to scholarly journals for your paper or project!

And when finishing your project, use Noodletools to quickly and accurately create a Works Cited page in MLA format or a References page in APA! Why stress out paging through a format manual?!
